Let it Snow!

Frozen Lake

Yesterday I posted some of my last pictures with my old camera. These are some of the very first pictures I took with my new camera. They were taken the day after the snowstorm we had a few weeks ago. It started snowing late Friday afternoon and didn’t stop until late Saturday night. It’s the most snow I’ve ever seen in my life and apparently the most snow Charlottesville has gotten in more than a decade. I’m so glad we moved here this year! It just feels like fate that after years of miserable hot weather and depressingly balmy winters in Florida we move up here and get to experience the biggest snowstorm in years.

Getting these pictures was pretty tough, though. It’s normally about a 5 minute walk down to this lake, but it took me at least 20 minutes of trudging through knee- and sometimes thigh-deep snow to get down there that day; it was exhausting. Two weeks later, a lot of the snow still hasn’t melted yet. It was supposed to snow again today, but now it’s just looking like rain. I usually love rain, but it’s disappointing when you could have had snow instead.

I’m excited for the New Year tomorrow and the start my Project 365. I haven’t taken any pictures in the last few days so I’ll be extra excited to start. Happy New Year!
